Child ID Program

New York Life’s Child ID Program is designed to help children in our community learn how to stay safe in the home, at play, or wherever they happen to be. It also provides a comfortable way to develop relationships with young families, businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations in your community by hosting a safety-oriented event where all children receive a New York Life-issued Child ID.

Why host a child ID event?

A Child ID event encourages family and safety-oriented businesses and organizations to interact with members of the community in a relaxed, fun environment. When you host a Child ID event, you are sending a message to your community that your business or organization cares. Hosting a Child ID event can also open the door for unique friendships and interactions between you and other businesses and organizations. In addition, local TV and radio stations often cover a Child ID event, providing favorable media coverage for your business or organization.

Benefit to parent or guardian

Having a Child ID will give the parent or guardian peace of mind knowing that should anything ever happen to their child, they will have an ID with vital information to distribute to the local authorities.

Potential partners and activities

Potential partner organizations at a Child ID event include local fire and police departments, Boy and Girl Scout troops, hospitals and medical specialists, youth and senior centers, food pantries, athletic clubs, tutoring services, The Red Cross, Goodwill, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Schedule an Event

Child IDs are created using the EZ Child ID System, the nation’s most comprehensive digital fingerprinting child identification system. Created with help from the National CHIP foundation and law enforcement officials, this system ensures that the digital fingerprints meet industry standards by capturing all vital information required by the Amber Alert system.

In only 3 to 5 minutes, a Child ID card is printed for each parent or guardian free of charge. Child ID cards feature a child’s photo, fingerprints, contact information, and other pertinent data needed by the police in case of an emergency.

Please note that children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No child’s information or pictures are electronically retained. All data is automatically erased upon printing the Child ID The only information New York Life keeps is a parent or guardian’s contact information, and only if permission has been granted for an Agent to contact them with more information about New York Life.

Moyer Foundation

Founded in 2000 by MLB, World Series-winning All-Star pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen; The Moyer Foundation’s mission is clear: “To empower children in distress by providing education and support – helping them to live healthy and inspired lives.”

New York Life – Seattle is proud to support and participate in the Moyer Foundation and its programs. In 2012 the New York Life Foundation donated $1,000,000 to The Moyer Foundation, the largest single donation in the foundation’s 12-year history.

“This renewed commitment will allow us to serve thousands more children and teens in distress, especially the youngest family members, by giving them the coping tools to help achieve normalcy and balance in the face of the loss of a parent, sibling, loved one or caregiver,” said Kevin Sullivan, The Moyer Foundation’s national executive director.

The funding supports The Moyer Foundation’s expansion of services to grieving children. At age 49, Moyer recently broke the record books with a remarkable Major League Baseball win, and now holds the record as the oldest major league pitcher to start and win a baseball game.


In making the grant announcement, Chris Park, president of the New York Life Foundation, said, “We are proud to continue our strong partnership with The Moyer Foundation, whose mission and commitment to the issue of childhood bereavement positively impacts so many children in need. ”Park continues, “The need among bereaved children is greater than commonly thought. In fact, according to a recent study, one in seven children will experience the loss of a family member (or close friend) before the age of 20, which puts children at risk. However, the good news is that grieving children themselves report that the support, experiences, and resources that The Moyer Foundation provides helps ease their burden and promotes the hope and optimism they need.”

Support from the Foundation, which totals over $1.7 million since 2008, has been integral in helping The Moyer Foundation establish nearly 40 camps across the country – providing outreach, education and ongoing support to more than 2,500 children annually and leveraging the support of more than 2,000 community volunteers, including hundreds of New York Life employees from across the country who have donated time and money to Camp Erin, according to Sullivan.

As co-founders Jamie Moyer, the veteran Major League Baseball pitcher, and his wife, Karen, have said, “Every child deserves to live life with hope, comfort and support. The work of both New York Life and The Moyer Foundation is vital and provides children and families in distress with both the potential and the necessary resources to live on and live well.”
